There are also about 9 instances of British profanity (bl-). I’m now going to read Cousens’ previous book, This Time Next Year. The bonus: it’s a fun getaway to the delightful island of Jersey, so it’s wonderful for armchair travel. Just Haven’t Met You Yet is a charming and sweet romance book, with enjoyable characters who have great chemistry. Naturally, things don’t go quite as Laura had expected, and she discovers not just that her origin story isn’t quite what she thought, but that the perfect man for her isn’t necessarily who she had imagined. Meanwhile, she hires gruff (and very beard-y) cab driver Ted to help her get around Jersey and retrace her parents’ footsteps, using old photographs and stories her mother told her. But she has to find the owner of the suitcase, and it proves harder than she thinks. This mixup must be fated to be the start of her own perfect love story. When she arrives at her hotel in Jersey, she is initially dismayed to find out she picked up the wrong suitcase - but its contents indicate that its owner has to be her dream man. When she runs out of ideas to pitch to her demanding boss, Laura decides to write about her parents’ love story, originating in the Channel Islands. Her parents had that kind of love… but her father died when she was very young and her mother died recently. But she has yet to experience a perfect meet-cute or an earth-shattering love herself.

She regularly interviews giddily happy couples about how they met. Laura works for a “lifestyle platform” (read: website) in London that covers beauty products, travel and people’s real-life love stories. IN SHORT: This romance book is a charming love story with characters I enjoyed.
